ADTP Addictions: Treatment and Prevention

Addicted to success

This is a post-graduate certificate in addictions counselling. It consists of two academic semesters of 14 weeks each and one internship semester of 495 hours. These three consecutive blocks of learning will provide you with the knowledge and tools to provide quality addictions treatment for a variety of unique populations.

If you are interested in supporting people with addictions issues, then this will be the program for you! With an employment rate of 85% - 100% each year, Georgian students are respected around the world. Graduates are currently working in Asia and Europe, in the United States and right across Canada. Employers tell us that they prefer Georgian graduates because of their maturity, depth of knowledge and the currency of their skills. Our program has even been approved by a variety of certification boards for individuals who wish to become certified addictions counsellors in the future. Both Canadian and international boards recognize Georgian's courses as eligible for formal accreditation in the areas of substance abuse, gambling and addictions prevention.

Careers

Some students work in formal institutions like prisons and hospitals, while others enjoy a career in treatment centres, group homes and government sites. Graduates can be found in detoxes, shelters, outreach vans and on the street offering a variety of supports to users. Some graduates even choose to open private practices or work in outpatient service sites like clinics or small community offices. The options are varied and endless!
