META Mechanical Engineering Technology - Automotive Manufacturing

Make just about anything...

Take a look around at the things you use everyday. The alarm clock that wakes you in the morning, the bus that takes you to school, your snowboard, your disc player - you may take them for granted, but they could represent a great career for you. Think about it; everything we use had to be manufactured. And someone had to figure out how to get that product made. That person could be you if you study Mechanical Engineering Technology - Automotive Manufacturing.

What's Special

At Georgian College, we focus on an industry that is the largest in Canada - the production of the parts that go into the cars and trucks we drive. It's exciting, fast-paced, and facing a skills shortage. The workforce is aging, so technologists with good skills are in demand. Salaries start around $40,000 a year, with the opportunity to grow well beyond that. What kind of work would you do? Mechanical technologists work on the engineering team planning the process to get something made - everything from the assembly line design to testing of the product. Job titles include quality control, process technologist, or mechanical designer. And although we specialize in the automotive world, the skills you learn can be applied to any type of manufacturing.

Careers

One of the greatest advantages of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Georgian College is our award winning co-operative education program. Students earn money on the job while they learn from a wide variety of employers on three four-month work terms. The connections you'll make often lead to a job upon graduation.
